IPL restarts after India and Pakistan agrees for ceasefire

Mumbai : May 15, 2025. Touted as the largest annual sporting event of
India , the IPL ( Indian Premier League ) is going to restart after 10 days of India –
Pakistan face off . The restart day will witness the clash between Royal
Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders . The final will be played on June
3 rd as BCCI announced the revised schedule on Monday . The mid way suspended
match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will be played again on May 24 in
Jaipur . The match between the two teams which was ongoing was suspended
due to the tension between india and Pakistan at the border .
On 12 th May , both India and Pakistan agreed a ceasefire for de-escalation
of tensions between the two countries . Following this with prior permission ,from
the Government of india , the BCCI announced the restart date of IPL . 17 matches
will be played across 6 venues, starting on May 17, 2025 . There shall be two
double headers which will be played on two Sundays . The BCCI announced in an
official statement that “ the Board reaffirms its commitment to national interest
while ensuring the successful completion of the league and it salutes the bravery
and resilience of the Indian Armed Forces whose efforts have enabled the safe
return of the cricket” .
The Indo – Pak conflict was the outcome of the brutal killing of 26 Indian
tourists from different states of India by terrorists in the Baisaran Valley of
Kashmir on 22 nd April 2025 . In an avenge to the death of its innocent citizens on
the wee hours of 7 th of May , Indian missiles struck at 9 different places housing
terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir ( POK ) , thus killing around
100 terrorists including some of the Pakistani security personnel . Soon after the
Government of India took several security measures to thwart any untoward
situation that might jeoparadise the lives of its citizens and in such step the Home
ministry ordered the BCCI to suspend the ongoing IPL as the league witnesses so
many audiences both from India and abroad .
